Obituary of Thomas Michael Kanapky

Thomas Kanapky, 95, a longtime resident of Venice, FL, peacefully passed away on September 13, 2023. Born on July 4, 1928, in Georges Township, PA to the late John and Anna (Pluto) Kanapky. Tom was a proud Navy veteran. After serving in the U.S. Navy, Tom had a distinguished career as a quality control inspector for Cleveland Pneumatic Tool until his retirement.

 

Tom is survived by sisters Dolores (Nick) Verbus and Madelyn (Frank) Hancher, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Thomas now joins his beloved wife, Mary Ann, in eternal rest. He was also preceded in death by his sister Catherine Tillman, and his brother Andrew Kanapky.

 

Tom was a shining example of love and kindness, always wearing a warm smile that radiated the light within him. He possessed a genuine heart, extending his friendly nature to everyone he encountered. His strong faith was a guiding force in his life, grounding him in humility and teaching him the value of respect for all. Tom was a devoted member of the Knights of Columbus.

 

Committal service will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday, September 29, 2023, at the Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Rd 72, Sarasota, FL 34241. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Knights of Columbus Council 9924, 1301 Center Road, Venice, FL 34292.

 

As we bid farewell to Tom, remember the lessons he taught us through his unwavering faith, his gentle spirit, and his commitment to serving others. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.
